Listed here are some musicians, writers, artists, labels, radio shows, that have been, and continue to be, supporters of the artists on Trace and who have influenced me peronsally through all the years of Rothko and now the label. Please do take a little time to visit these inspirational people who are doing the most wonderful work in the creative world.
There are also some charities who you might take a little time to look at and maybe help with a donation
Jim Adams aka BLK w/BEAR
I know that Jim is already on the artists page of this site, but, without Jim's help and incredible support I would never have got this label off the ground. He is the inspiration behind me continuing to make music and releasing the music of others
Shed your Tears And Walk Away - Documentary by Jez Lewis
I was fortunate enough to have one of the tracks from Distant Sounds of Summer featured on this most amaziing documentary by director Jez Lewis. A deeply moving and affecting insight into the lives of those affected by addiction in Hebden Bridge, where Jez grew up. It hasn't been shown on TV yet, but it should be. It's essential viewing. If ever there was a reason to make music, it's to be featured in work as powerful as this
Harold Pinter - Playwright, Poet, Director, Actor, Political Activist, Nobel Prize Winner
Harold Pinter is possibly the most influential playwright and theatre directors that there has ever been. He also loved Cricket! In 2005 he was awarded the Nobel Prize For Literature. His acceptance speech was, and still is, and always will be, one of the most powerful things I have ever heard. Tony Blair [and many others] should be strapped to a chair and made to listen to Pinter's words again and again until he admits to his complicity in war crimes. I urge you to take a moment or two, or more, to visit this site, to read Harold Pinter's words.
SANE
SANE is a mental health charity, doing the most wonderful work to help those with mental health issues. This is a subject very close to my heart. Please do visit their site, and, if you could be so kind, perhaps leave a small donation. The health service in the UK are just focussed on prescribing medicatation to those with mental health issues and are unwillling to offer long term support, such as psychotherapy and counselling. I speak from first hand experience. SANE are filling that gap in the most profound way.
The Arctic Circle
A fantastic musical community, all gathered together by Ben Eshmade who put on live events featuring some of the most incredible bands and musicians, such as Efterklang, Peter Broderick, The Heritage Orchestra, Max Richter, Murcof, Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryers to name but a few.Ben also hosts Arcitc Circle Radio and The Chiller Cabinet and has been the most amazing supporter of both Rothko and now Trace Recordings
Lo Recordings
Lo released the debut Rothko album, A Negative For Francis, back in 1998 and still offer guidance and support to me in running Trace and have, quite simply, been with us all the way. A fantastic label run by great people, who put out some absolutely incredible music.
more on the way soon..!
